The scholarship award will be paid direct to the Institution to be used solely for "tuition, required enrollment fees, books, supplies and equipment for courses.

The Tennessee Labor-Management Scholarships are funded by the Tennessee Labor-Management Foundation.
Objective
The objective of the scholarship is to increase and retain the number of new professionals entering the human resources or labor relations field as a career in order to sustain growth and cooperation in the labor-management industry within the State of Tennessee.
Award
Each year, subject to the availability of funding, the Tennessee Labor-Management Foundation awards various scholarships in amounts up to $3,000. Awards are subject to the availability of funding. Awards may be on a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place basis and/or include honorable mention.
Eligibility
Eligibility is defined as any college or university student who (1) is a legal resident of the State of Tennessee; (2) has completed the freshman and sophomore years of study in a degree program of a fully accredited two- or four-year public or private institution of higher learning in the State of Tennessee with a grade point average of 2.5 or better (based on a 4.0 system); (3) is actively pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree; (4) is not related to a member Tennessee Labor-Management Foundation ; and (5) will pursue a career in a labor relations-related field. The student’s current field of study is not an eligibility criterion.
The winner must be available to accept the award on site during the awards banquet at the respective Tennessee Labor-Management Conference.

Selection
Selection will be based on merit without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, age, and/or veterans status. The successful applicant will demonstrate an interest in a labor relations-related field as a career. The applicant must also demonstrate leadership characteristics and scholastic achievement.
Applicants must submit an essay of approximately 500 words describing “What collaborative roles can government, academia, labor organizations. and companies play in the creation of jobs in an economic recovery? ”. The essay must be typed and double-spaced. The essay must include a cover page that lists the applicant’s name, home address, phone number, and the name of the applicant’s educational institution.
Special Requirement
To receive the scholarship it is mandatory that the recipient be on site at the Tennessee Labor-Management Foundation Annual Summer Conference Banquet to be held August 10th at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
Deadline
Deadline to submit an application for the Mid-Year Tennessee Labor-Management Scholarship is February 28, of the respective year. Deadline to submit an application for the Summer Conference is July 15 of the respective year.
